From Basics to Business: The Social Media Fusion

Social media has began to build the foundation of most communication channels and more recently, it is becoming the main vehicle for businesses to market themselves through building an online presence in an ever growing digital realm.

Looking back at where social media was to where it is now, we are able to see the power that social media holds and how people have become so reliant on it, whether it be for personal entertainment are marketing matters.

Did you know that social media is the mot popular online activity and in 2013 93% of marketers were already making use of social media? This just shows you the reach that social media has in the world and why it is a fast growing marketing space.

Demographical studies show that there is a pretty even split between male and female users of you most popular social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat.

You can now do more with your social media

Looking at what these platforms now offer, we are able to notice a trend. It is almost as if they are beginning to combine. For example, Instagram now has stories, which is something that Snapchat runs off, or Facebook is trying to be the go-to-place for news and trending stories, something that Twitter is often used for. From looking at this we are able to make predictions that by the end of 2017, users will be able to:

  • Create and share video content
  • Create and share live video content
  • Discover news based on location

Bearing this in mind, we are able conclude that we can begin to expect big advancements in the online marketing world (yes, having a personal account is a form of personal marketing), wether it be for personal or business purposes.
